Warranty & Claims

Product Warranty & Claims Process

Dark Light Design supplies products only — we do not carry out installation. This sets out what our warranty covers, and how we handle a claim if something goes wrong. “Fitting” below refers to any product we supply.

What's covered

  • Manufacturing defects in the fitting itself, for the applicable warranty period — details are available on our website or on request.
  • Repair or replacement of the defective part, at our discretion, once a defect is confirmed.

What's not covered

  • Labour costs to access, remove, or refit a fitting.
  • Faults caused by incorrect installation or wiring (for example, reverse polarity or overloading), or by misuse.
  • Damage occurring after delivery, including in transit by others, or caused by third parties.
  • Items reported as missing or damaged more than 48 hours after receipt — please check your delivery on arrival and report any issues within this window.

Products supplied under another manufacturer's brand

  • Some products we supply are manufactured by other companies and carry that manufacturer's own warranty terms and claims process.
  • Where this applies, we'll confirm which manufacturer's process applies at the point of order, and we'll help route your claim to them.
  • That manufacturer's own terms, timeframes, and remedies apply to the claim, in place of the process below.
  • This doesn't remove our responsibility to you as the seller — if a claim can't be resolved through the manufacturer's process, we'll take it up directly.

How a claim works

  • Contact us with your order reference and a description of the fault.
  • Return the fitting to us for inspection before any claim is confirmed — we aim to respond within 7 working days of receipt.
  • In some cases, testing needs to be carried out by the original supplier or manufacturer rather than by us directly. Where this applies, we'll let you know, and the response timeframe above may be extended accordingly.
  • If the fault is confirmed as a manufacturing defect, we'll repair or replace it under warranty.
  • If inspection shows the fault results from installation, wiring, or misuse, we'll share our findings with you and the claim won't be covered under warranty. [An inspection fee of £150 may apply in these cases depending on location — we'll always flag this with you before it's charged.]

Placing an order confirms your acceptance of these terms.
