The High Society Highlight Wine Pendant Light uses innovative and sustainable techniques to combine leftover pomace from wine production into a gorgeous shade. Environmentally-friendly yet elegant in design, the conical Highlight Wine suspension lamp combines renewable energy in the manufacturing process with LED technology to create an object that brings human living closer to nature. The skins, pulp, seeds, and stems left over from the local wine producer are compression molded with a biodegradable binder to a high pressure. The result is a cymbal-shaped shade that provides a direct light, whilst the natural material adds a warm reflected glow. A natural carnauba wax coating is finally applied to protect the surface from moisture, ensuing that the natural and individual patterning is retained whilst remaining smooth to the touch. Available in 2 sizes, the Highlight pendant look subtly impressive in a row of matching size shades or in a cluster of mixed sizes, bringing a focal point that links design and sustainability.
Compatible with retrofit LED bulbs, not included. An E27 LED globe is recommended, a globe 45 4.3W for the smaller Highlight and a globe 60 7W for the medium size. Supplied with a 2 metre black cotton cord and matching hemp ceiling canopy.
The innovative Highlight pendant is available made from natural hemp, tobacco or wine - see below.
A bit about wine...
Belonging to the psychoactive plants category the grapevine alters brain functions, which changes to the way we perceive the world. South Tyrol in Italy, where High Society originate from, has a wine growing heritage that goes back more than 3,000 years. High Society collaborate with biological wine farmer Weingut Radoar, who cultivates wine 900 meters above sea level. Using the leftover pomace from wine production, High Society press them together to create pendant lighting from waste.
